Default Complaints

There's something I've noticed in this community: people complain no matter what happens.

For instance, there were plenty of people complaining that A-Net was going to stop releasing any content for any older campaigns, but when they released an end-game area for prophecies (Something a lot of people wanted) people complained that it was too late.

Same thing with the extra storage a while ago, people said they wanted more but when it came it was "too little, too late".

And most recently, the pve-pvp skill separation. Something many people have wanted for a very long time, but when it was released the response was:"they should have done that years ago".

Now, I'm aware that plenty of people are very grateful (myself included), but what I don't get is how people can complain so much with all these great updates lately.

PS:I'm fully aware that this thread will probably be ripped to shreds, but I thought it was worth posting anyway

Sorry, its called life. It doesn't matter what you talk about or do someone will ALWAYS complain about it. I think some people like to disagree or complain about something just to get a RISE out of someone else. Your going to have to grow a thick skin and except it. ::steps off soapbox::

Just think about it this way: do you remember the number of trains that arrive on time? And those that arrive late? Well, multiply this by a few hundreds and you get the "fanforum effect" .

In other words: go look around in GWG and count the threads of QQ and those of non-QQ (probably ignoring Ventari's) and you'll see it's not so bad after all. Second level of examination is in terms of QQ posts, and it's probably a bit higher.

People will always complain. You could give someone $100, and they would complain its not $1000. Thats just how people are, and it's impossible to change.

Natural said it correctly.

The example I always give is: You paint their whole house the color they always wanted it to be, and the first thing out of their mouths is... you missed a spot. lol.

So yes, welcome to the world, not just Guild Wars. You cannot satisfy some.

To quote Lily Tomlin: "Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Truly, to ask why people complain is to question a fundemental part of human nature. That being said, I say believe we British took they true art of complaining to the world. Particularly when it comes to politics.

'Why aren't you serving now?'
'Because it's 10:15, sir. We open tills at 10:30.'
'But why?'
'Sunday Trading Laws, if you don't like them, send a letter to Gordon Brown.'
*customer walks off mumbling*

Every point the OP lists as a "complaint" is actually a valid "criticism." One needs to be a bit more careful differentiating unsubstantiated complaints from reasonable criticism. You might not agree with said criticism, but criticisms are the mechanism for evaluating changes and improving on them next time around.

That said, sure, there's also a fair amount of complaints too, but its going to happen on a forum. You're just not going to agree or even come anywhere near the same viewpoint as everyone on a forum, as well as the fact that th egame has been out long enough to have people bored or frustrated with certain aspects and willing to vocalize it.

You have obviously never dealt with "most companies". Compared to "most companies", ANET is like some glorious herald of the heavens. "Most companies" are run by the forces of pure, unfettered evil, and their cruel indifference to customers, logic, and basic human decency is eclipsed only by a level of greed that most humans with pumping hearts could not achieve in a thousand lifetimes spent spinning the greatest evils they can imagine.

Or, more simply: most companies are so horrendous that ANET couldn't, at this point, compare to their stupidity and malice if each ANET employee systematically visited every player's house, rang the doorbell, and then kicked the player in the crotch and stepped on their dog before taking an epic dump in the mailbox and leaving.

You are wrong. It is not OUR community, it is HUMANS nature. Once you get a PC, you are statefied, but you will want a better one the other day. If u get none, you wont be able to complain, as you have nothing to do complain about. Once you get stuff, troubles and problems pop ups from it. You need to get used to it human's type want more and more, no matter what he gets.

some things are worth complaining about. for example:

work used to supply that junk brown 'john wayne' toilet tissue. a few of us complained about it, and now, when I take my morning glory I get to use Charmin. it is o so soft and fluffy. If we didn't complain we'd still be stuck with the sandpaper stuff.

People want what they want, when they want it. And they will complain, if it's given to them eventually, that they didn't get it when they wanted it.

Some people just need things to bitch about, even if nothing is wrong and they get what they want.
